The Samburu, Rhinos, and Mara Safari offers an incredible journey through some of Kenya’s most iconic landscapes and wildlife reserves. Starting in Samburu National Reserve, visitors experience a unique blend of arid scenery and rare wildlife, including the Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Moving on to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to the largest population of black rhinos in East Africa, travelers have the rare opportunity to encounter these magnificent creatures up close while supporting vital conservation efforts. Finally, the adventure concludes in the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve, renowned for the spectacular Great Migration, where millions of wildebeests and zebras traverse the Mara River, attracting predators such as lions and crocodiles. Day 1-2
Kalama Conservancy
Staying at Saruni Samburu
On your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport, collect your luggage and pass customs to exit the terminal and meet our driver for the transfer to Wilson airport. Depending on your arrival time, you might require to spend a pre-night in Nairobi, chat to us for some options.
Flight to Samburu airstrip where you are met by the safari guide and transferred to Saruni Samburu. Your 2 nights stay includes your meals, selected beverages, shared game drives and bush walks.
Your villa is open and spacious, with spectacular views over Kalama Conservancy and Mount Kenya. With over 200,000 acres of unspoiled and wildlife-rich bush, Saruni Samburu offers an exclusive safari experience, guided by Samburu warriors passionate about their land and culture. The area around Saruni Samburu is teeming with wildlife – from the giant herds of Samburu elephant coming to drink at the waterholes, leopard making their lairs on rocky outcrops nearby, to endangered packs of African wild dog seen traversing the plains below the lodge. The area is also home to rare endemic species, the Samburu Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and genenuk.
Day 3-4
Sera Community Conservancy
Staying at Saruni Rhino
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Saruni Rhino lodge located about 2 hours away. Saruni Rhino offers several diverse experiences, including the first black rhino tracking experience in East Africa. This incredible walking safari provides a thrilling adventure and the opportunity to actively contribute to the protection of this iconic specie. Saruni Rhino lies in the wild, undiscovered northern frontier of Kenya in 350,000 hectares of Sera Community Conservancy. The semi-arid, untouched, striking landscape stretches further than the eye can see giving a sense of total inimitability. Your 2 night stay includes the meals, selected beverages and the hared scheduled game drives and walks, as well as one rhino tracking session per day. The sanctuary is set within the conservancy, it is fenced and highly secured to assist Kenya’s black rhino population to grow.
Day 5-7
Mara North Conservancy
Staying at Saruni Mara
Early morning breakfast and road transfer to the airstrip on time for your flight to the Mara (could be via Wilson depending on airline’s schedule).
On arrival in the Mara, you are transferred to Saruni Mara, located in the North Conservancy, with the wide open game plains to the south and lush forest to the north. Your 3 night stay includes your meals, selected beverages and all shared game drives and bush walks. The Masai Mara in Kenya is famous for its unique concentration of wildlife, birds, rich vegetation and open savannah. It has been classified among the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ due to the extraordinary annual migration (July to October) when over 1.3 million wildebeest and zebras cross from the Serengeti in search of greener pastures.
The lodge is quite small with 2 villas and 5 cottages, each individually decorated with themed rooms that keep a classic safari feel. Spend some time relaxing with a book and listening to the animals calling at night, while the stars are shining bright.
Day 8
End Of Itinerary
Last morning in the bush, and transfer to the airstrip for the flight to Wilson. On arrival road transfer to Jomo Kenyatta airport and time at leisure until your return flight. It is possible to extend the trip with some days at the beach, or a gorilla encounter, contact us for options.
